Three area baseball standouts recently gave verbal commitments to colleges.
Santaluces right-hander Peter Strzelecki committed to Palm Beach State. Meanwhile, Jupiter senior shortstop and right-hander Kyle Keatts committed to Tennessee Tech. Teammate John McCarthy, a senior first baseman, plans to play at Army.
Despite a 1-3 record, Strzelecki (6-1, 210) posted a 1.93 ERA (10th among large-school pitchers) and 43 strikeouts in 40 innings as Santaluces? No. 2 starter.
Keatts, who is 6-foot and 175 pounds, was Jupiter?s starting shortstop last year and a valued starter and reliever. McCarthy (6-2, 190) played first base and outfield.
All three players were Post All-Area Honorable Mention selections as juniors.
