Thursday?s area sports briefs

Nationwide Tour player and Murrells Inlet native Zack Byrd finished second in the NGA Tour?s Carolina Summer Series event at Black Bear. Byrd went 6-under on the day and finished the tournament at 15-under.

Byrd lost by a stroke to winner Jessie Massie. Massie and Byrd were both tied for third coming into the day while Coastal Carolina Alumnus Daniel Obremski was the leader. Obremski finished in third.

Little River?s Patrick Lundy finished tied for 12th at 5-under.

Pro golf

Galivants Ferry native Michael Maness climbed up the eGolf Tour?s Bolle Classic leaderboard after the second day of competition. Maness is tied for sixth at 7-under.

Maness is five strokes behind leader Drew Weaver, who is 12-under. Weaver went 7-under in the second round.

Several Grand Strand residents missed the cut of the event. Little River?s Sam Lyons finished at 1-over for two rounds. Myrtle Beach?s Yoshio Yamamoto and Roberto Diaz were at 5-over. Fellow Myrtle Beach resident Craig Morrow was at 9-over.
